I am located in the north eastern corner of America, and I am on a
scholarly quest if you will, i am not planning on flying anything I build
but I'm doing this to see if I have the credentials to overcome a task such
as this. This project is a scholarly gain and if I can make a 1/4 scale
model that has potential in a local wind tunnel or show potential to an
actual full scale model then my goal will be completed. At my local glider
port there are a fair amount of hang gliding pilots converting to gliders.
Now I may or may not use this particular glider as my plan but I felt as if
the builders would be a perfect place to start and unsurprisingly the
gliding community has come with open arms, and to this I thank every one of
you.
I am a senior in high school for anyone wondering. I've spent about 5 years
around gliders and I have just recently soloed in a Schweitzer 1-23, one of
my proudest moments of my life, first being the first solo. I love the
sport and I'm hoping to further this passion by going hands on and seeing
what a person with limited knowledge about home building and a
little ingenuity can do.
