Objet : Member 60 qualities for ULF1.

Hello, Mykola,

I have built a UF1 15 years ago which flies in southern France pretty well.
The spruce Member 60 cannot be found any more. I have built my ULF1 with Oregon pine which is heavier but stronger than spruce.
Member 9, the conceptor of the ULF1, recommends Northern Pine (grown in Northern Europe) or Douglas fir at 12% humidity, edge grain cut, 4 annual rings/cm or more, specific gravity 0,6 g/cm3, for wings and tail spars.
For the other parts, a lighter pine Member 60 may be used.
You should not have problems finding the right Member 60 provided it is dry (8 to 12% humidity) and the tensile strengh is 900dN/cm² or more.
But it's a lot of work....
André Member 64, France.
