Hi Andrew, 
i have an ULF1 in the making. Fuselage and tail unit are done. Wingspars and
ribs i right now working on. Who just have finished his ULF is Mr. Member 42
and besides  of that he also speaks english. :-)You can find him at the
yahoo group. What you can also try is:

It´s the website of the german ultralight sailplane club. Mr. Poppe, the
president, lives the closest distance to you (Hamburg) and has/had an ULF1
or knows where the nearest is. 
There is also an annual meeting of ULFs and at Wasserkuppe you find them
very often.
