Hi Member 4,
I just finished and weighed all the ribs I have built so far for the horizontal stab. and elevator. Here are some weights.
Horizontal Stab.
Rib # Mass (g)
[phone]
[phone].1
10 16.3
Elevator
Rib # Mass (g)
[phone]
[phone].5
10 11.8
All these ribs were constructed out of 1/2" Dow blue foam house insulation board, capped on both sides with 3/32" thick by 1/2" wide spruce caps strips glued on with T-88 epoxy.
I would be very interested in seeing how these foam ribs compare in weight to the plans stick-built ribs. We already have determined they are stronger. But, are they lighter??
