Has your group considered Tedlar as a wing covering? It was used on American Eagle UL's. Strong, very light, easily repaired and installed, UV resistant. I think the only drawback, and it's considerable, is the attachment by adhesive tapes. The tape is plenty strong enough, but finding an adhesive that is UV resistant for a reasonable amount of time is the fly in the adhesive...uh, ointment.

Maybe there have been advances in adhesives that I don't know about.
