Mike. Its deregulated under EASA. No construction regulation required as it
is under 80Kg.

In the UK it is classified as a hang glider and would be flown under the
British Hang gliding Association umbrella and most importantly BHPA
insurance. The BHPA will insist that you hold a hang gliding qualification
and have some full size gliding experience.

I have this in writing from Mark Dale BHPA technical officer.

Does anyone know the regulatory position of the ULF-1 in the UK?

What I've found so far seems to imply foot launched aircraft (possibly under
60kg) seem to have no official airworthiness or pilot competence
requirements.

I realise missing out on the 'pilot competence' aspect of a project is not a
good idea whether officially required or not!
