Shaun, My experience is limited, I have not stuck two pieces of Member 60
together yet however, I have I have ordered and received glue and some hand
tools and the timber for the entire tail assembly. This cost me £600. I have
probably slightly over ordered, I hope. Extrapolating this experience I very
roughly estimate that the fuselage will cost about £1000 and the wings
£1200. There is a builder in the Yahoo talk group who has just ordered the
covering on a ‘special deal’ for £1000. I guess that means £1000 minimum. I
am sure there are savings that can be made, for example my friend Member 67 is using bamboo, very successfully, for the rib construction
instead of spruce.

I am going by the drawing and instructions and no practical experience but
yes I think you are right the shoulder straps are tightened after take off
when foot launching

It seems everyone is on the Yahoo talk group so try joining that for a more
informed reply

Subject: [ULF-1] Approximate Costs

Hi, I am considering building a ULF-1 and I was hoping that other builders
would share what it has cost them. I am in the U.S., but costs for builders
in other countries will help me get an idea a well. Also, I am somewhat
concerned about the harness system on the ULF-1; it appears in the videos
and pictures I have seen that the pilot must move forward and down from the
normal seated position to get their legs on the ground. My concern is that
this might leave a large amount of slack in the harness. Am I missing
something, does the pilot simply get seated in flight and then tighten the
harness?

Thanks,
Shaun
