Doug, et al...
There's not much going on in here yet. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that in some of the other discussion groups we are presented with so many possibilities/options......build or buy, aluminum or Member 60, kit or scratch built, part 103 or LSA, etc. Then there are the arguments about gust loading and 120lb airplanes which seem to concern some perspective builders and designers. It would seem that we need more encouragment in order to make the decision to "go for it".
In terms of this particular design, the ULF-1, I think it would help a bunch if we could hear stories from some of the builders who are already successfully flying their birds. Also some input from builders who are in the process of building and what their experiences are so far would be helpful. Discussion concerning grading of the lumber used or the characteristics of the glues might be useful. It might be helpful if Dieter himself could get more involved in the discussion. 220 Euros is a fairly substancial investment for anybody who might be just "looking" Maybe If Deiter offered a limited time special introductory price for the drawings, it might encourage more folks to get involved.
We have a very robust and attractive design here that is certified in Germany, that can be built with hand tools in a reasonable amount of time and money, does not require the interference and red tape of the FAA, can be launched in a variety of ways, offers a very respectable L/D and min sink, and promises to be an absolute blast to fly. I don't quite understand the appearant lack of inthusiasm. Anybody else got any input on the subject?
